Three Nights at the Opera: Part I

Music
Opera House
Thursday, Oct 21, 2021 at 7:30 PM (ET)

On the first night of Alma College’s Three Nights at the Opera, the Music Department will recreate the sort of early 20th Century musical entertainment that mid-Michigan audiences flocked to hear in the Wright Opera House. Reminiscent of the time, the concert will be a flurry of familiar classics, operetta and popular song featuring performances by student and faculty soloists and the Alma College Choirs. Before the performance, Dr. Benjamin Peterson will speak about the role that the historical opera house played in connecting the college with the broader community. The night will also feature the release of a new episode of the Alma College History Department’s new podcast—available at alma.edu/threenights—which will explore the college’s history between 1900 and 1906.

The event will be live streamed on the Alma College Youtube page, and will be shown on screens at the Block House, the Alma High School Auditorium, and the Alma Public Library.
